We continue the installation of sensors / probes in herbaceous crops

After the tests carried out on corn crops in the area of Barbastro, Huesca, this time we continued the installation of humidity sensors in a corn farm in southern Albacete in herbaceous crops .

Installation of probes / sensors in herbaceous crops

When installing the sensors in herbaceous crops at 30cm depth, the following has been chosen:

  • Analyze the type of soil that influences the absorption of water.
  • Define the measurement zones in this way.

Control with sensors in herbaceous crops, buried to prevent them from disturbing

However, and since pivot irrigation does not allow selecting irrigation sectors or varying by area, our clients will be able to collect informative data on humidity in different types of soil and with it better optimize irrigation in the entire farm.

Advancing from Plantae in precision agriculture focused on herbaceous crops is a great step within a country where most agriculture is focused on the corn , cereal and other variants.

Installation in potatoes watered with pivot

We installed humidity sensors in a potato plantation in Horcajo de la Sierra in the province of Madrid in a plantation irrigated by sprinkling with a pivot.

Sensor-controlled pivot irrigation

When we irrigate with a pivot, the water is distributed in a general way throughout the crop. Controlling the degree of humidity is quite difficult and can generate areas of waterlogging.

The Plantae humidity sensors / probes in herbaceous plants will indicate whether we should increase or decrease irrigation.

Another important factor is to assess whether watering at night or during the day .

In summer it is convenient to water at night due to evaporation that decreases notably, while during the day it increases and we will increase the amount of water that the crop needs.

Advantages of Plantae sensors / probe

Plantae sensors / probes control:

  • The humidity of the subsoil at different depths.
  • Room temperature.
  • The temperature of the subsoil.
  • The conductivity to avoid the accumulation of salts.
  • The flow that we contribute to the pipe that connects with the pivot.

In order to control all the sensors / probes, we install a Hub / receiver that sends the signal to the platform and the farmer can receive the information in real time from his mobile or tablet.
