About plantae

We create technology to help everyone make good use of water and available resources, making any agronomic activity profitable and sustainable.

This is what our service offers you, becoming an indispensable ally for optimizing your resources and increasing the productivity of your crops.

As a farmer, you know that the success of your crop largely depends on the decisions you make every day. At Plantae Agro, we understand the challenges you face and we want to introduce you to a revolutionary tool that will allow you to make a qualitative leap in the management of your crops: our Satellite Image service.

We help you make your crop profitable with new technologies.

By 2050 it is estimated that food production will have to increase by 70%, which, together with the expected droughts and irrigation restrictions, makes precision agriculture technologies and sensors increasingly necessary.

Plantae was born to help make our world more sustainable and efficient with the available resources.

Through in-house manufactured sensor technology, we are able to control the climatic conditions around any crop, offering data, graphs and information for more efficient and realistic decision-making.

We are 7 entrepreneurs, engineers and farmers, who together have more than 40 years of experience in the sectors of: aeronautical engineering, information technologies, new mobile technologies, logistics, agriculture and hospitality.

We will be your Technological Agriculture department.

To turn the impossible into possible, in a sector that is fundamental for humanity and demands technology, changes and improvements.

You usually ask us

What is Plantae® for?

With the data and the adjustment of the fixed high and low moisture, conductivity and temperature parameters in the Panel according to the type of soil, crop and water treatment, our clients can optimize irrigation according to their needs. We help define how much to irrigate based on those variables.

Does the installation of Plantae® equipment have any cost?

The cost of installation will depend on your location and the type of soil, but remember that it is very easy to install and you can even do it yourself with traditional tools.

How exactly does Plantae® work?

Plantae® is a sensor solution that measures moisture and other parameters at different depths and surface temperature depending on the crop and type of soil. The sensors are inserted into the ground and automatically collect readings in real time, sending them wirelessly to a receiver/hub/concentrator which in turn transfers the data to the Online Panel Manager, accessible from a computer, tablet or mobile phone (APP).

What happens if any station stops working?

If its malfunction is not due to theft, animal attack, weather phenomena (except rain, frost, snow, wind) or misuse of the devices by the client, we will send you a new sensor within less than 5 days so that you can replace it.

What benefits will Plantae® bring me?

Water savings, reduced spending on resources (fuel, electricity…), improved crop productivity by providing the water it needs or changing the way of irrigating (shorter cycles, times of day, etc.)

What does Plantae® agronomic advisory service consist of?

Plantae® is a professional tool, simple and easy for anyone to interpret, but above all stands the experience and knowledge of the farmer. We have a team of agronomist engineers and distributors, Plantae Agro, by area, in charge of analyzing the soil and providing monthly service if the client requires it in order to successfully interpret the data and look for changes in irrigation, fertigation and fertilization plans.

In which crops does Plantae® work?

Any crop with irrigation or supplementary irrigation. We work with different varieties of olive, pistachio, almond, vine, walnut, peach, apricot, pear, flat peach, walnut, citrus, alfalfa, maize and various vegetables among others. In addition, it is also implemented in professional landscaping, several botanical gardens, football pitches and golf courses (www.plantae.golf). For more detail about the crops we work with, explore our Crops section.

Can Plantae® also manage irrigation automatically?

We are working on several automatic irrigation solutions so that you only have to control the tool and the data without worrying about turning irrigation on or off.

How many stations do I need on my farm?

There is no exact relationship between “Farm size” VS “Number of sensors”, but normally 10 hectares are measured with 4 sensors, since it is common to install two pairs, each of them measuring at two depths.

However, the number of sensors depends on the type of soil, the crop and its age, the irrigation sectors and the topography of the land.

For an Initial installation, their location is confirmed with the client and their knowledge of the type of soil and irrigation sectors. From the Basic package onwards, Plantae uses satellite images to study the water index of the plots and propose a better design and structure for the installation of the sensors across the farm. All of this will always be agreed with the client.

What types of stations are there?

We have developed several products with which to measure different parameters of any crop:

Plantae®Probe sensors
Flow meter
Weather Station

In the top menu you have access to all the information on each one

Why do you do this?

We not only seek to provide a quality product at a price accessible to any farmer, but also to help make our world more sustainable and efficient.

By 2050 it is estimated that food production will have to increase by 70%, which, together with the expected droughts and irrigation restrictions, makes precision agriculture technologies and sensors increasingly necessary.

With its technology, Plantae® seeks to make a better world and raise awareness among everyone about the proper use of irrigation and available resources.

What is the price of Plantae®?

You can make a basic installation for less than €50 per month

Why is it so economical compared to other technologies on the market?

At Plantae® we set ourselves the challenge of achieving sensors at a price accessible to any farmer or professional gardener.

After 4 years of research and study we managed to develop a sensor and communication technology that would solve the current problems of the agricultural and professional sector for water saving and production optimization.

Where is the company located?

Plantae® is a Spanish company based in the Science Park of the Carlos III University of Madrid (Leganés, Madrid). All the technology, product development and commercialization are owned by Plantae® under the company Activa Proyectos Tech S.L.

Who is behind the Plantae® team?

Plantae® is made up of a team of 7 entrepreneurs, businesspeople and engineers who together have more than 40 years of experience in the sectors of: aeronautical engineering, information technologies, new mobile technologies, logistics, agriculture and hospitality.
